We enjoyed this little locally owned spot! Everything we ordered was homemade. The Oatmeal Molasses bread with maple butter spread was delicious. The noodles were fresh. The foccacia did not disappoint. The blueberry pear cobbler we shared for dessert was a huge serving, and the perfect ending. Now, don't go if you're in a hurry, but if you have time and eager tastebuds you'll be certain to enjoy!
If your looking for variety and packed full of flavor, this is the place for you! The hospitality is great and service was great! Must visit if your in the jefferson area!
This is my favorite restaurant in Jefferson! I go every time I'm in town. The atmosphere is so cozy, the food is absolutely delicious (every time!), and the owner & staff are so friendly and welcoming.
Very reasonably priced for the quality. The atmosphere is relaxed but classy, the service was excellent, and the food was some of the best I've had in quite a while. Will be back.
Great place to come and have dinner with family. Rooster skin
The food was ok but the service was terrible.
Great food but the service is very slow. They need to hire someone that can multitask. Service was one star but food was 5. Don't go if you are in a hurry. Otherwise awesome place
Charming place with a varied menu. There were 5 in our party. We started with a bread basket which was tasty. Four of us ordered soup and sandwiches and my husband, meatloaf. The four of us got our sandwiches and started eating. After about 10 minutes the waitress came by and told us the meatloaf would take 5-10 minutes longer. The four of us finished and still no meatloaf. My husband told them to cancel his order. The waitress told him it was now ready, but he didn't want us to wait while he ate, plus it's no fun eating alone. The waitress explained "everything is made from scratch" as an excuse. If it had been explained up front that the meatloaf would take much longer and would come out much later, he wouldn't have ordered it. Also, I'm a non-meat eater. The Gouda grits didn't list bacon as an ingredient. Imagine my surprise when I took a bite. Others ate some of it so I didn't say anything. The food was good. The experience could have been much better.
A perfect bistro. Great menu. Ambiance. Great food, music and service. I recomend this bistro to everyone.
Good food... Nice atmosphere... Small bistro.
Food was very tasty! I had the shrimp scampi But it was more like shrimp alfredo still wes Delicious, The bread was a pumpernickel with a butter syrup descent but prefer regular butter. just a little pricey for my dish but all in all i would go back.
Fantastic food, wonderful ambiance, good service, and had a lovely chat with the chef when I used the facilities. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
The food is amazing! Staff was so friendly. A quaint atmosphere, and Gena, the owner, is just lovely and so friendly. Don't be in a rush here, you can't hurry up food made from the freshest ingredients. Next time you're in Jefferson give the Austin Street Bistro a try.
Would give 5 stars on the coffee alone. The Oatmeal Molasses bread felt like cheating and having dessert before the meal. Salad was as pretty as it was delicious. The smothered pork was fork tender swimming in a savory sea of awesomeness. My only regret is not leaving room for dessert. Service and food top notch.
Oh my gosh! Seriously one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my entire life! It’s a cozy little restaurant with an open kitchen and really neat decor! I ordered this bread thing (crustini?) with a mushroom reduction and I DREAM ABOUT IT AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. It was the best meal I’ve ever eaten; ever. The staff/waitress was amazing! But let’s be honest, even if the staff was AWFUL, I’d still come back for the food.
Loved the Food! So delicious! Best place to eat. Will definitely come back!
Food was great had the shrimp scampi it was more like shrimp alfredo, the butter they use is mixed with syrup not a fan but I will go back.
One of the best lunches I have enjoyed in a long time! Will definitely be back. Highly recommend!
The best food in Jefferson. The menu offerings are consistently excellent. The smothered pork chop is heavenly. Salads perfectly dressed. Molasses butter bread is addictive. And desserts are over the top and decadent.
My husband and I ate there last night. It was fantastic! I ordered a strawberry chicken salad that was more satisfying than one might expect a salad to be; I couldn't finish it. My husband ordered the sausage lasagna. He enjoyed it but would have liked a larger portion. Afterward, we shared an amazing apple strudel. Most meals are served with a slice of toast covered with a molasses spread that is a dessert in itself. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Wonderful atmosphere and food. Friendly service and great food.
Nice, pleasant dining experience. I had the salmon, which was just okay. Hubby had the lasagna which was tasty. The atmosphere, though, was great. Quiet enough on a Friday night so our party of seniors could actually hear each other. We ended the meal w/bread pudding and that made it all worthwhile (although pricey). I believe, though, that I would try a different restaurant if ever back in Jefferson, just to see what else the town offers.
Gina is a fresh taste of legitimate Austin street bistro Italian inspired menu
My first experience here. What a wonderful quaint extraordinary place!!! Everything tasted so good and fresh. It was a flavor explosion. The service is great! You must try her flavored teas..I had the almond tea and it was amazing! The bruschetta is my favorite!!! All the dishes I have eaten were 5 star. This place is worth traveling to Jefferson just to eat at the bistroTRY IT, YOU WILL LOVE IT!!
This place is divine. Their homemade breads are so good! Everything was just addictive!
I had a good experience over all. The waitress was wonderful. The food was good. The 3 star rating is due to the price. Again, my food was good, but not $25 good. Also, $3 for a beer they poor into a small glass from the bottle which doesn't hold the full contents of the bottle. Over all was good, just over priced.
cannot say enough good about this place! we go here once a month and its always great! those rolls and butter are to die for> staff is always the best. quiet small home feeling. your never rushed or cramped
The food was absolutely delicious! We had the Rooster Skin and the Pilgrim for lunch. Both were absolutely flavorful, well seasoned, creative, and wonderful. The crostini with jalapeño goat cheese and marinara was delightfully spicy and creamy. The homemade breads are amazing! The toasted oatmeal molasses bread that came with the salad was our favorite thing! We hope to go back to try more from the menu.
This is a MUST try when you are in Jefferson Texas! The service, food and ambiance is perfect. I had the Asia Chicken and it was truly to die for! It’s located in a perfect location near the Christmas tree (I visited over the holidays) and I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. Absolutely love it and I will be back
The club sandwich was delicious.
Outstanding. Best potato's I've had since my grandmother in laws. Loved this place. Owner is a wonderful host and small staff does a wonderful job The reason to shop and eat local. Got a speeding ticket in town an swore I would not spend a dime in the area. But you can't pass up this cafe and the general store. Worth a visit. A must on the Texas bucket list. If you like antiques, plan on spending the entire day. There is a young hobo in town. Knows his rails. Seek him out. Good guy full of rail history. Just watch your speed on 59 in general. They feast on tickets, no tolerance.
My wife and I have been going to Austin Street Bistro for a number of years and I have sampled just about everything on the menu. The food here is some of the best I have ever put in my mouth rivaling any other restaurant’s offering. Incredible!
Its really amazing! They are nice, helpful and great people. I have ordered the same thing 3 times in a row! Ive gotten togo and dine in and both were great. The options are totally customizable and the food and atmosphere is 100% New Orleans quality if not better! Jefferson is now on the map because of this bistro!
Ate here with the family of 7 and everything from start to finish was fantastic. Loved everything about it.
Huge rave on the staff, service and food. Not only was the food excellent but the customer service was awesome our waitress was friendly with a smile during our lunch but the best thing was the fact that I called on a Friday asking if she could make small cake to surprise my son for his birthday and even though she doesn’t normally do that , she happily did it and made an very tasty banana cake, he was so happy .. so all I can say is if your in Jefferson, Tex make sure to stop by .
We were driving through on the way to Beaumont and stopped here. The food was perfect and the atmosphere was great as well! Amazing place to eat and very healthy options available
Amazing little jem in a small town! Fantastic food! Cozy quaint restaurant!
Incredible experience, great food and staff!
Our favorite place to dine in Jefferson. The menu only gets better and better! The bread basket is divine.
This place has phenomenal food at a reasonable price! The house salad, tomato soup and bread was a very tasty start. The medium rare ribeye steak was perfection! The potatoes that came with the meal were nicely prepared with a spicy kick. The pecan tart and cheesecake were the perfect ending to an overall 5 star meal and service. Thanks ladies!!
I would give more stars if I could. We are local cattle ranchers in Jefferson and this is the best place to bring friends and family when they come to visit. The food is INCREDIBLE! Every single thing on the menu is perfect. If you come to visit Jefferson, make sure to stop in for a great dinner!
Oh my gosh, what a little gem! I had the special - salmon with lemon butter sauce over greens & hubby had the smothered pork chop with Parmesan grits. Both served with a phenom salad. The people at a table near us said they drive from Shreveport every month for that pork chop. Once we tasted it we understood why. The food is worth a drive from anywhere!
Great food and outstanding service.
I had the Mardi Gras with potatoes and it was great.
Best egg salad and tuna salad sandwiches. The coconut treat covered with chocolate they gave us with the check was delicious.
Great food and atmosphere. Interesting breads, would go again
Great food and wonderful staff.
Found this awesome little Shop whilst on an anniversary trip! Was very busy the day we visited, but the wait was totally worth it! After it settled down at got to chat with Gena, the owner for a bit. Definitely check this place out of you like quality food and beautiful presentation. Will definitely be back, even though it's two hours away from home!
Although there aren't any vegan meals on the menu our server was able to have an amazing salad prepared for me. I appreciate the accommodations that were made for me. My husband enjoyed his corned beef sandwich with roasted potatoes. The coffee was fantastic. Quaint bistro with friendly staff.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Austin Street Bistro. The staff was attentive. The atmosphere was warm and inviting with an old world charm. My wife had the salmon that she said was done to perfection. I was adventurous and tried the Frittata (a crust-less quiche). It was wonderful. We started with a salad. I tend to prefer salads made with iceberg lettuce which this one was not, but it was most excellent! The garlic roasted potatoes were outstanding but I think my favorite was the bread with the special topping. I look forward to visiting again, the next time we are in Jefferson.
